Managing Default Reports in OpNote ACS

The ability to manage defaults is found only on opnote.mtuitive.com. Physicians can create new defaults from their “live” signed out reports, but do not have the ability to edit/duplicate/delete them in EHRs.

PLEASE NOTE: Defaults created from “live” signed out reports will not save content in free text fields. Only synoptic fields (Multiple or single select lists) will be saved using this method. If you wish for free text to be saved, then users must utilize Manage Defaults in the web browser.

Physicians can manage their own defaults by going to opnote.mtuitive.com. Admins have the ability to manage defaults for all physicians. Defaults can be accessed by physicians and admins by selecting “Defaults” from the menu on the top of the screen.

Once there, Admins will select which physician they wish to work on.

PLEASE NOTE: This step does not apply to physicians. They will only see their own defaults and no other physicians’. They will immediately go to the next step.

After selecting the surgeon from the drop down, a list of current defaults will appear.

For existing defaults, users have the option to:

  • EDIT—go in and make changes by selecting options and/or filling out various text fields. This can be accomplished using typing and/or Dragon DMO/M*Modal/other voice-to-text programs.
  • DUPLICATE—create a copy of the existing default (users will be prompted to name it). This allows users to create variations on the same procedure, allowing for changes in approach, findings, or any other details that deviate from the usual standard.
  • RENAME—Title the default something different. In the example above, a user could rename “Breast Cancer Surgery 1” to “Left Mastectomy” or some other option.
  • DELETE—permanently remove a default so it is no longer a selectable option. PLEASE NOTE: This is permanent and cannot be undone.

Users can also create a new default report from scratch by selecting the blue button that says, “Create New Default Report.”

They will then be prompted to select the template set upon which they wish to build this new default. Your template set is the name of the procedure (Breast Cancer Surgery, Colon Resection/Colorectal Surgery, Melanoma Excision, etc.) followed by a mnemonic for your facility.

PLEASE NOTE: If you need assistance finding your template set, please contact mTuitive at OpNoteSupport@mTuitive.com.

Once the appropriate template set has been chosen, name the default whatever you wish and select the “Create” button.

You will then be brought into a blank operative report in the Edit Note screen.

PLEASE NOTE: Your operative report may be a different formatting with different fields than the example below.

Complete the fields with the information that you wish to be pre-populated going forward. Not every field needs to be filled out, including required fields. Again, as opposed to using OpNote live on a case, required fields do not have to be completed when creating a new default report using this method.

Once done, select “Sign” from the top of the screen and review what fields have been entered.

If satisfied, you select “Home” and the default has been saved.

PLEASE NOTE:

“Search Defaults” is not currently available but will be brought into production soon.

Users can select it and attempt to find other reports, but will be met with a screen that does not allow for use:
